| When the going gets tough, the tough get going. That saying never really sunk in with me until this summer. We have all felt the economic sting that has risen the last few months. I don't care how much money you make, we have all had to make adjustments. I watched clients drop off and clients stay over this time. It happens and I totally understand as a father, business owner and friend. What I did find is a new respect for those who chose to grin and bear it for their goals. It takes alot of dicipline to invest in our bodies yet we will invest hundreds a month on a car. Don't even get me started on the gas prices! Why do we do that? The answer is easy. Exercise is hard work and the easiest to justify not doing. Life is easy to live in maintenance mode for all of us. Where am I going with all this your asking. I think all of this is a good thing. The high gas prices is a good thing. Having to cut back as people is a good thing. Learning to sacrafice is a great thing. Why? Because it will give back to you a hundred times over. When we start to get back to the basics its then that we realize whats important. Health, happiness and family. We all want that right? Why is that replaced with money, things and status? I don't think we even realize we are doing it until it's taken away. Thats why it is such a shock. It's sudden and final. Eveyone deserves to be happy but without sour there is no sweet. You need to get back to what makes you give back to everyone around you. A true sense of happiness and that starts with exercise. That may be a little too simple to believe but here are some examples. Everybody has a time they reflect on as "what they used to look like". We all have times we have accomplised things we never thought we could. Those times become timeless and money could never replace them. Those were the times you were alive and not just living! The funny thing is that you never even realized it. I guarantee you didn't. We are a culture that looks for the next level or best thing. We never stop to smell the roses and appreciate how much you have and have accomplised. The result is that you fall back due to the lack of self reflection and satisfaction. The cycle will repeat yearly until you stop the cycle or give up. We are never as good as a whole as when we are healthy and happy. Money won't make you stop caring about your oversized rump. Money won't cure your diabetes or high blood pressure. Money won't allow you to go hiking like you used to or play with your grandchildren as much as you desire. It's your decision to take action and guess what? This decision won't cost you a dime! Get out and exercise and you will live life to it's fullest! |
